Redness of the free margin after eyelid reconstruction using the Kollner-Hughes technique

Speaker: Dr. Castellarin / Dr. Escalas

Sourdille Atlantique Ophthalmological Institute Nantes / Saint Herblain

Oculoplastic Academy Congress Nantes 2014

The Kollner-Hughes technique is used to reconstruct a substance loss of more than 75% of the lower eyelid. It combines a tarso-conjunctival flap taken from the ipsilateral upper eyelid and a full skin graft. The second step releases the flap on day 15. Certain precautions are described to avoid a red appearance of the neo free margin.
