Eye aesthetics: a multifaceted subject

Surgeon: Dr. Pierre Escalas

Sourdille-Atlantique Ophthalmological Institute Nantes / Saint Herblain

Film presented at the French Society of Ophthalmology

The alteration of the eyes with age is the result of several transformations that concern:

- the position of the free edge of the eyelid, which may droop (ptosis)

- the amount of skin that increases due to laxity (dermatochalasis)

- the position of the eyebrows, which may descend (brow ptosis)

- changes in fatty tissue volume, which may increase (bags) or decrease (dark circles)

Most of the time, these elements combine in varying proportions, which should lead to a surgical procedure tailored and specific to each patient.

This film will show you examples of these modifications to help you analyze your gaze and understand the surgical or medical procedures that may be recommended. Indeed, there are very different ways to perform cosmetic eyelid surgery.
