Intubation of the lacrimal ducts: a journey to the center of the nasal fossae

Surgeon: Pierre Escalas

Sourdille Atlantique Ophthalmological Institute Nantes / Saint Herblain

Intubation of the lacrimal ducts is indicated in cases of congenital obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct in children. This duct carries tears from the inner corner of the eye to the nasal fossa, opening below the inferior turbinate. This video describes the anatomy of the nasal fossae, which is essential to mentally reconstruct in order to locate the probe without traumatizing the surrounding mucosa.
