Dissection of the lower eyelid retractor complex

The retractor complex is a fibro-muscular blade that attaches the tarsus (rigid posterior part) to the sheath of the inferior rectus muscle. This complex plays an essential role in the stability of the lower eyelid.

Mastery of its anatomy and dissection is essential for correcting certain palpebral malpositions (entropion, ectropion), as well as for maintaining palpebral statics in aesthetic eye surgery (blepharoplasty).

This video shows how to recognize and dissect this anatomical structure.
