Correction of a round eye post blepharoplasty using a myocutaneous transposition flap: live surgery

Surgeon: Dr. Serge MORAX

Rothschild Foundation Paris

Conference given during the Oculoplastic Academy 2011 congress in Nantes

Round eye is a serious and dreaded complication of cosmetic lower eyelid surgery. It involves displacement of the lower eyelid due to excessive skin and muscle removal during blepharoplasty. This leads to a change in the shape of the palpebral opening, which alters the appearance and severely impairs aesthetics. It also causes eyelid blockage during blinking, when looking upwards, and during nocturnal occlusion, leading to discomfort with a sensation of dryness, burning, and foreign bodies.

The video describes a procedure involving the displacement of skin and muscle from the upper eyelid to the lower eyelid. The surgeon is a world-renowned oculoplastic surgeon.
