Correction of a round eye post blepharoplasty with a myocutaneous transposition flap: live surgery

Coordinator: Dr Serge MORAX

Rothschild Foundation Paris

Lecture given at the Oculoplastic Academy 2011 in Nantes

Round eye is a serious and dreaded complication of cosmetic surgery of the lower eyelids. It is a displacement of the lower eyelid due to an excessive removal of skin and muscle during the plastic surgery. It leads to a change in the shape of the palpebral opening which transforms the look and seriously impairs aesthetics. It also produces a blockage of the eyelid during blinking, in the upward gaze, during night occlusion, leading to discomfort with a sensation of dryness, burning and foreign bodies.

The video describes a procedure moving skin and muscle from the upper to the lower eyelid. The operator is a world-renowned oculoplastic surgeon.
