Chemosis post lateral shortening canthoplasty

Surgeon: Dr Remy Estable / Pierre Escalas

Institut Ophtalmologique Sourdille Atlantique Nantes / Saint Herblain

Paper presented at the "Oculoplastic academy" congress in Nantes 2014

Chemosis is a deformity of the conjunctiva caused by the accumulation of edema. It occurs mainly in patients with very lax conjunctiva (conjunctivochalazis) and is favoured by excessive eyelid tension during lateral canthoplasty. Patients with palpebral flaccidity syndrome are particularly at risk. This video describes examples and their evolution according to different treatments.
